According to Cumbria County Council*, “Carlisle is within the 10% most deprived areas in England”, with average earnings well below the national average and higher than average unemployment figures. So, when we were approached by Carlisle Youth Zone to help fund their youth club sessions this summer, we were only too happy to come to their aid.
Providing a safe and fun environment 6 nights a week and a well-attended holiday club during the school break, young people from disadvantaged backgrounds can get involved in a wide range of activities that help build important social connections and given them the chance to make new friends.
The Foundations grant of £4,827.67 will benefit up to 20 children at the charity this summer by gifting 180 free youth club holiday sessions and we can’t wait to hear how they get on.
